Reversibility and diffusion in mandelythiamin decarboxylation. Searching dynamical effects in decarboxylation reactions.
Decarboxylation of mandelylthiamin in aqueous solution is analyzed by means of quantum mechanics/molecular mechanics simulations including solvent effects. The free energy profile for the decarboxylation reaction was traced, assuming equilibrium solvation, while reaction trajectories allowed us to incorporate nonequilibrium effects due to the solvent degrees of freedom as well as to evaluate th...
متن کاملRate-determining processes in acid-catalyzed decarboxylation reactions
The acid-catalyzed decarboxylation reactions of indoleand pyrrole-carboxylic acids require the addition of one equivalent of water to the carboxyl group and a proton to the heterocyclic ring carbon at the position α to the carboxyl. Where α-protonation is thermodynamically favoured over β-protonation, the magnitude of the observed 12C/13C kinetic isotope effect (CKIE) is greater than where the ...
متن کاملContinuous flow coupling and decarboxylation reactions promoted by copper tubing.
A convenient and efficient flow method for Ullmann condensations, Sonogashira couplings, and decarboxylation reactions using a commercially available copper tube flow reactor (CTFR) is described. The heated CTFR effects these transformations without added metals (e.g., Pd), ligands, or reagents, and in greater than 90% yield in most cases examined.
متن کاملEnzymatic Catalysis of Proton Transfer and Decarboxylation Reactions.
Deprotonation of carbon and decarboxylation at enzyme active sites proceed through the same carbanion intermediates as for the uncatalyzed reactions in water. The mechanism for the enzymatic reactions can be studied at the same level of detail as for nonenzymatic reactions, using the mechanistic tools developed by physical organic chemists. Triosephosphate isomerase (TIM) catalyzed interconvers...
متن کاملGreen Energy Generation in Buildings: Grid-Tied Distributed Generation Systems (DGS) With Energy Storage Applications to Sustain the Smart Grid Transformation
The challenge of electricity distribution’s upgrade to incorporate new technologies is big, and electric utilities are mandated to work diligently on this agenda, thus making investments to ensure that current networks maintain their electricity supply commitments secure and reliable in face of disruptions and adverse environmental conditions from a variety of sources. The paper presents a new ...
